On Saturday 8 June at the Sala Pegaso of the Province, the final ceremony of the XVIII edition of the Water Safety Project took place, which this year boasted the patronage of the Province, the Municipality and CONI and during which the young people certified new lifeguards received, in addition to the certificates, also the required red t-shirt "work tools" and a kit for insufflations to be performed in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The ceremony saw the participation of the children, coming from all the 2nd level secondary schools in the province, who took part in the activities, their parents, the Headmaster of the Manetti Porciatti Technology Center of Grosseto Antonella Baffetti and Prof. Marco Merelli, professional technical coordinator of the project, the managers of the National Rescue Society Barbara and Riccardo Tamantini, the representatives of the Port Authority, the Lieutenant (NP) Andrea Porzio Commander of the Beach Delegation of Marina di Grosseto and the SC 2nd Cl (NP) Fabrizio Capraro and the representative of the Territorial School Office Prof. Fabio Massai.
The project began in November 2018 with swimming lessons in the pool held by Prof. Marco Merelli and Prof. Sonia Bonari. continued for the entire duration of the school year with theoretical and practical lessons on BLS cardiopulmonary resuscitation held by Dr. Simone Pieraccini, lessons on the professional role of the Lifeguard held by the managers of the National Rescue Society Barbara and Riccardo Tamantini, lessons from the Captaincy of Porto, sea rowing lessons held by the instructors of the Società Nazionale Salvamento Riccardo Tamantini, Riccardo Nelli and Claudiu Janu. Each path was concluded with exams to ascertain the skills acquired.
A year of demanding work for everyone but which in the end had the desired effects and which is a good omen for the organization of the 19th edition which will start in the school year. 2019/2020.
