Polo is the Italian robocup champion

National final for the team competing in the World Robot Olympiad with Mindstorms.

The Manetti Porciatti Technological Center is the Italian champion of Robocup.

Almost simultaneously with what happened to Napoli in Serie A, the robot footballers of the Technological Center also won the Italian title, winning the final of the RomeCup in Rome, the most important event in Italy dedicated to robotics and artificial intelligence which since 2007 spreads innovation by connecting schools, research centers, companies, universities and institutions.

It is not the first time that the students of the Manetti Porciatti Technological Center have reached the final, but it is the first in which they have won this competition in the "Soccer Open" category thanks to the "Go for broke" team made up of Pietro De Maria and Livio Lorenzoni from the class 5 Electronics, robotic curvature and accompanied by Professor Daniele Dattrino who followed the entire evolution of the project, right from the beginning.

Now the Grosseto team will be called to decide whether to go to the European championships in Croatia or participate in the Robocup Junior world championships in Bordeaux, France. “The satisfaction is great - admits Professor Dattino -. We worked hard and this rewarded us thanks to the technology achieved by our robots and to which we added perfect strategy analysts that allowed us to beat every opponent we encountered."

The awards ceremony took place in the Protomoteca room in the Campidoglio, directly from the hands of the Councilor for Productive Activities of Rome, Monica Lucarelli.

But successes often never come alone. In fact, last Thursday the Manetti Porciatti Technological Center achieved another success in the already prestigious showcase. Also in Rome, the "Sbucciafili" team won the territorial competition of the World Robot Olympiad (WRO), clearly separating their opponents. This is an international robotics competition founded in 2004, based on Lego robots and aimed at students aged 8 to 19.

On the competition field, the Lego Mindstorms robot, developed during curricular time by all the students of the 3EC and 4EC Electronics classes, robotic curvature of the Technological Pole, completed the mission in an almost flawless manner, autonomously loading multicolored containers onto two container ships to then secure them outside the port.

The “Wire Peeler” team, under the guidance of Professor Daniele Benedettelli, known as Professor Mattoncini in the web community of Lego robotics enthusiasts, was made up of Stefano Rocchi of 3EC, Thomas Corridori of 4EC and Alessandro di Lorenzo of 4EC. “I am very satisfied with our boys - commented Professor Benedettelli - because in addition to proving themselves competent and responsible, they demonstrated great sporting spirit, helping their opponents in difficulty. Now there are some bugs to fix to face the national final in Brescia on May 20th, dreaming of the final in Panama.”

The head teacher of "Manetti Porciatti", Claudio Simoni, is enthusiastic and does not hide his emotion for the successes achieved by his school. “I must admit a certain emotion in commenting on these successes which are the result of great work and continuous commitment. I congratulate our students of the two teams, the "Go for broke", Italian champions and the "Sbucciafili" qualified for the national category phase, but a particular thank you goes to the teachers who put their skills at the service of the children professionalism accompanying them in this as in other experiences, allowing them to achieve these important results. Keep going like this - he concludes -. Your achievements are our pride.”
